Martin’s Blog 25th June

Tom Scudamore in this morning to school Back On The Lash ahead of Sundays BET365 Summer Cup at Uttoxeter as Lash’s regular rider, Sean Bowen, is claimed by his father for Cartmel. James Best in to school to so we also schooled Eclat Des Mottes, Be Thankful, Kazontherazz, Capricia and Cloud Formation. Miranda Theobald in to ride out too.

It’s Harry’s last Sports Day at his primary school – Temple Guiting – and, predictably, we have been unable to attend for the second year running due to Covid restrictions from Gloucestershire County Council. Belinda’s gutted as it’s always been the boys’ favourite school day of the year and Harry was so excited this morning – he’s moving up to Secondary School in September. They’ve promised video footage and photos but it’s not the same is it? Someone suggested I fly the drone from the road and film it for everyone! Belinda was going to watch with some other mums from a nearby field but they decided against it as the school really didn’t want them to. A huge space, a small school of about 90 children – they offered to hold it over a few days and also to have 30 parents one side of the field and 30 the other. It all failed. The boys went to Wembley on Tuesday, three members of our team went to Royal Ascot 2 weeks ago and spent the day without masks or social distancing but we are unable to watch Sports Day. Something not quite right here. The school play will undoubtedly go the same way…..

No runners until Sunday when Back On The Lash and Be Thankful head to Uttoxeter.
