Martin’s Blog 25th January

Much milder today and therefore the horses are going back out in their paddocks as usual for the afternoon after they have been ridden. It’s not much fun for them when it’s bitterly cold but we do get them out whenever we can.

A few extras in to ride out this morning including York Charity Race participant Abi Stock and also multi talented Deb Butler who showed us her gardening skills after she’d ridden out. Paddy Brennan came in third lot to school Young Phoenix as he rides him over fences for the first time on Sunday at Sedgefield. He jumped well and hopefully fences will be the making of him. Paddy was pleased with him.

Off to Huntingdon this afternoon with Oscar World making her chasing debut. It’s frustrating she’s not yet won as after running so well in bumpers I was sure she’d win over hurdles. She’s bred to jump fences though and has been very good schooling at home and it would be great if she could take to it and run a big race. Leighton Aspell rides her.
