Martin’s Blog 25th February

A fun Saturday morning with lots of owners in to watch the horses on the gallop and, although there was no frost, it was pretty baltic. Matthew Baker, Ollie & Irene Ryan, Rich & Coot Lloyd, Rosemary & Roger Sollis and Paul & Kate Miller were all in and we had extra riders in too including Warren Marston, Miranda Theobald and Tim Gibbs. We worked quite a few of the horses and all the rest cantered.

Half term is always pretty hectic and this week has been no different as the boys have crammed plenty into the week. Freddie is off to Paul Nicholl’s Somerset yard for his School Work Experience in July so we went down there on Thursday morning to give him a taste of what he should expect. He rode out 3 lots and no doubt learnt a lot, as did we as we were busy picking the brains of Paul and his head lad Clifford Baker who was mine and Belinda’s first head lad for The Duke when we were kids. He was a big cog in The Duke’s wheel and is a huge reason why Paul has been so successful too so Freddie will learn lots from him and the rest of the team there as well. A friendly and well run yard and it was a good morning.

Freddie & Clifford
The mighty Frodon!

Harry supports Manchester City so her and Belinda are off to watch them play Bournemouth today thanks to Harry Redknapp who they are meeting there. Harry is very excited although he’ll have to not shout if Manchester City score and he is surrounded by Bournemouth supporters!

To continue the footie theme and thanks to the generosity of Phil Eaton, Freddie & I are off to Wembley tomorrow to watch his beloved Manchester United play Newcastle in the Cup Final and are meeting Matt Capp en-route for Sunday Lunch and we can’t wait!

Meanwhile Redbridge Rambler runs at Hereford tomorrow in the bumper under our Conditional Harry Atkins. He’ll be better over obstacles but should run another good race tomorrow.
