Martin’s Blog 25th April

Although no winners for the Team at Fontwell Park yesterday, the horses ran well. Primogeniture was surprised to see a fence looming after two runs on the flat and Conor did well to sit tight on him over the 1st. He then gave him a very confident ride and a change of tactics to try something different saw them handy and in front early on. He jumped well and was travelling until he was taken on four out however he jumped home to finish 3rd and put some all important prize money into the Racing Club funds.

Lord Condi found the track and trip too sharp but ran well on his debut since his winter break and jumped well in the main too. Harry said the ground was perfect for him and we’ll look at options now over hurdles and fences and look forward to a fun summer with him. He’s a nice horse.

Finally Jeans Genie ran a blinder in the bumper to finish 4th and delight us all especially owner/breeders Chris & Jo Massey. Sadly Jo couldn’t make it and we hope she gets well soon. We’ll have fun with Jeans Genie too I’m sure.

The horses mostly did a couple of canters this morning and dodged the rain showers. The rain got steadily heavier all morning so nothing was turned out today.

Late morning John & Claire Abernethy called in with friends after a CLA visit to fellow local trainer Ben Pauling’s yard. John brought eggs from his hens for Harry in particular who loves them for breakfast. They were keen to see Capital Force who ran so well at Cheltenham last time out. He’s come out of his race in good form and we look forward to making more plans for him.

It was great to see Jo Stainer and Sue Mulraine who called in at evening stables to check on Lord Condi and Jo generally entertained us all!
