Martin’s Blog 24th October

A busy but fun day at the Newmarket Sales yesterday but we had no luck and were underbidder for a couple with a few that we liked going far and above our budget! Paul Davis & Charlie Dee had broken the back of the long list on Sunday so we didn’t have that many left to re-visit on Monday and we managed to look at those going through the ring today and over the next couple of days so another short-list has been made! Do get in touch if you’d like to be part of of Flat String for next summer.

We enjoyed a delicious supper, thanks to David Maughan, at The Jockey Club Rooms in Newmarket but Belinda & I headed back late last night as I’m at Exeter today which means I’m unfortunately missing accompanying her to a funeral in South Gloucestershire.

Back on the Lash (Sean Bowen) is now our only runner at Exeter as Mikimoto is unfortunately lame this morning. He has other options later in the week and next week if we can get him sound in time – frustrating. Lash has a lot of weight but has missed two or three options so far this season due to one thing or another and needs a prep run for his November Cross Country target. He’s in great form but may find one or two better handicapped today but we’ll see.
