Three runners today at Hereford where Lady Sutton’s Bella Ciao kicks off proceedings for us at Hereford under Harry Atkins. It’s her first run in a handicap so she should hopefully find life a little easier and I’d be hopeful of a good run from her. She’s not the easiest at home but Harry rides her out most days so he knows her well.
Samtara turns out again quickly following his 4th place at Warwick on Wednesday to run in the 2 1/2 mile Novices’ Handicap Hurdle also under Harry Atkins. If Wednesday’s race hasn’t taken too much out of him he should be thereabouts again today.
Finally Myfanwy’s Magic runs in the bumper under James Best for The 360 Racing Club and it will be interesting to see how he fares on his racecourse debut. He’s out of the prolific Hunter Chaser/Point to Pointer Lady Myfanwy who won 29 times so we are excited to get him to the track and it’s taken a huge amount of hard work from Claire Hart and her team. We’ve had him for a few months too and hope he gives the Club plenty of fun. Yesterday we attended the Memorial Service of our beloved owner and friend Jo Stainer at Preston on Stour Church. It was a beautiful service that he would have loved I’m sure and an old school friend quite rightly said that had Jo been able to be there we’d still be there today being entertained by him! Some great stories and Charile Poste did a super job recalling lots of memories of Jo’s racing life, some he’d kindly gathered from us too. Super to catch up with so many of his friends afterwards too but goodness we will miss him dearly.
