Martin’s Blog 24th February

Getting colder…more to come they tell us. Bitter but beautiful on the gallops this morning. Minus 4 no problem for our fabulous Leisure Ride Carpet gallop – our loop at the yard or our straight gallop either. The horses worked yesterday so just cantered today but could have worked as it rode as well as ever. A fantastic addition and we’d not be without it.

Jo Stainer in first lot to see Lord Condi and Sporty Yankee. Always entertaining having Jo in the yard to visit! PJ and Anne Maher here to watch Pirate Look second lot along with Andy Harding, Julie Lambourne and Poppy Uedelhoven who have been tempted to dip into the world of racehorse ownership! Welcome to Team Keighley and we look forward to having plenty of fun and more importantly winners together!

Morning Herald returns today to Kempton Park in the first run since December 2016 for Sally Lloyd-Baker under Tom Bellamy. She’s a tough mare who is a joy to train and makes up for her lack in size by her attitude and I think she’ll run well at a massive price.

I then hotfoot it over to Chepstow where Mister Valentine runs for The Lucky Seven Partnership under Harry Stock. He’s built to be a chaser for the future but is a nice horse and will hopefully run well today and is another who has a great attitude at home.
