A busy day at Worcester – hopefully they have had more than the 3mm of rain that we have had overnight.
Ollie & Irene Ryan’s Found On is our first runner today and she returns from a summer break after winning her last three chases in good style. She gets herself fit at home as she’s not the easiest on the gallops and I’m really pleased with her. If she puts in a similar performance over fences as before her holiday then she should go close.
Spanish Present was over the top when he was well beaten at Kelso on his hurdling debut – his Cheltenham bumper run had taken more out of him than I realised and, although working well at home you often can’t tell until you run them. He’s summered really well and I’m sure has grown again so, although we have done as much as we can at home, I think he’ll need the run a little today. He’s a horse I hope we will have plenty of fun with over hurdles but I can’t wait to go chasing with him in time too.
Back On The Lash isn’t a flashy horse at home and only just does enough so he will probably need the run a bit too as he returns for the season with a spin over hurdles before returning to Cheltenham for the Glenfarclas Cross Country race in November.
Finally Herecomeshogan, who made dreams come true for many of his syndicate, The Cotswold Lockdowners, last time out when he touhghed it out to win at Newton Abbot, runs in the competitive concluding hurdle race. By a huge stroke of luck this race is sponsored by one of Hogan’s owners, Steve White, who is celebrating his birthday at Worcester today so Happy Birthday Steve. Imagine if Hogan managed to make it an even more special birthday….!
Charlie Dee, who was pupil assistant here for a season, marries Emily today and we wish them every happiness for their future together.
