Martin’s Blog 23rd September

A gorgeous morning here and always good to have owners in with Charlotte, Harry, Matthew, Seb and Georgia (plus their gorgeous puppy Hugo) were all in to watch the horses on the gallops. It was a work morning and we had Warren Marston, Harry Stock and Tim Gibbs all in to help and we worked Redbridge Rambler, Shinji, Another Day Out, Zestful, Mr Mafia, Back On The Lash, Blazing Court, Debden Bank, Wide To West, Release The Kraken, Myfanwy’s Magic, Enforcement, Dreamsunermyfeet, Herecomeshogan, Found On, Spice Boy, Massima Bella, Witness Protection, Kauto Castillo and Osterberg. Most of the rest did a swinging canter with a few just cantering.

We had a massive schooling morning yesterday with Sean Bowen, James Best and Fergus Gillard all in to school in addition to Harry Atkins and also Freddie who schooled before school. Sean schooled Zestful, Another Day Out, Back On The Lash, Ten Past Midnight, Shinji, Found On, Mikimoto and Bobbi’s Beauty. James schooled Wide To West, Debden Bank and Herecomeshogan, Fergus schooled Enforcement, Borderline, Prairie Diamond and Dreamsundermyfeet, Harry schooled She Has Notions, Blazing Court, Ben Buie and Release The Kraken and Freddie schooled Mr Mafia, Pinnacle Peak and Redbridge Rambler. A very successful morning.

Matt Capp and his father Andy were in to see Robsam, Dreamsundermyfeet and Spice Boy on Thursday and it’s always lovely to see them both. I hope I’m looking as well and am as fit as Andy when I’m his age!

Richard Johnson dropped off one of his homebred youngsters, a 3 year old gelding by Telescope to come into training here. He’s a smart looking individual and it was fabulous to catch up with Dickie who seems to be as busy as he was when he was chasing Champion Jockey titles!

Jane Berry & Rosemary Peel-Yates were in to see their youngster Hot Goddess, who hasn’t been with us long having been backed and ridden away with Martin Jones, on the gallops as well as Zestful, Massima Bella and She Has Notions. Never a dull moment when these two are in the yard!

Tomorrow we have three runners at Plumpton – Ten Past Midnight (Sean Bowen) and She Has Notions and Ben Buie both partnered by Harry Atkins. Good luck to them all.
