Martin’s Blog 23rd January

Snow! Well, only a covering but a sharp frost too and icy roads. Not surprisingly jump racing at Hereford off which is a shame for them – fortunately we had no runners planned for there today.

Our gallops, not surprisingly, have stood up to the cold and three lots ridden on our circular loop.

We have plenty of entries over the next few days from as far as Sedgefield to Uttoxeter, Wetherby to Huntingdon. This weekend though we have great sport nearer to home too with Cheltenham’s Festival Trials Day on Saturday with just one entry there – Bobble Emerald, who may return to the scene of his last win. It will be great to get him back on the track for his ever patient and very supportive owners.

On Sunday if I’m heading to Sedgefield I’ll not have the family with me as they are attending our hugely popular local point to point at Cocklebarrow which I can highly recommend. They’ll be there early as the Pony Racing is before the actual Point to Point racing gets going and starts at 10.30am and the boys are keen to cheer on some of their friends. Have a look at their website and see all that is on offer to entertain you throughout the day.
