Martin’s Blog 23rd February

Storm Doris kept some of us awake during the night and caused us to have a brief power cut just after 6am but luckily it came back on within about 10 minutes. Big thanks to the team who carried on as normal battling the wind and rain and sat tight as the horses were not surprisingly a bit fresh today!

Andrew Tinkler and Alfie Martindale in to ride out this morning and I abandoned any idea I had yesterday of schooling a few this morning!

Flat racing today at Chelmsford with 3 year old Whatalove for J’Adore Racing who are a great bunch and include the Irish rock band The Coronas and her name comes from one of their singles. It’s a competitive little race but she’s off no weight at all with Rhian Ingram taking a further 7lbs off her already low weight of 8 stone 2 lbs which had left us scratching our heads for very light weight jockeys! Freddie was nearly recruited in disguise! We’re pleased with her at home but she needs to improve on what she has shown on the track and cope with the wind if it’s as bad as it is here as she’s only small.

Back jumping tomorrow at Warwick and then we may be at Chepstow and back on the flat at Wolverhampton on Saturday so it is all go!
