Borderline enjoyed the better ground yesterday at Newton Abbot and ran a much improved race for Mike & Mella Wright under Fergus Gillard to finish 4th, beaten 5 1/2 lengths and he’ll now qualify for a handicap mark so should find life a bit easier too.

I wasn’t at Newton Abbot as we were invited to celebrate Kitty King’s recent European Eventing Team Gold and Individual Silver medals at the Boggis’s wonderful home at Lower Stanton St Quintin. A really fun evening and Kitty as humble as ever about her massive achievement. Well done to her and all her dedicated team too – Kitty deserves all the success she gets.

Paul & Lynne Quested in this morning to watch their horses on the gallops and catch up with the team.

First Angel runs tomorrow at Stratford for Stephen Sugden under Sean Bowen in the first race and he seems in good form. He’s in the first race and we have a ‘runner’ in the last race too – the second pony race following the last professional race with Freddie & Miss Millfield trying to defy top weight and give weight all round. She’s also in good form and will be trying to improve on their 4th place at Stratford a year ago. Good luck to them all.
