Martin’s Blog 23rd April

Two runners at Southwell today. Duke of Luckley returns after a long winter break and he should appreciate the good ground. James Best partners him and he will hopefully put up a solid run for his group of owners, especially for Joe Saumarez-Smith whose colours he runs in.

Our other runner is Blazing Court who also returns after a winter holiday and is looking for better ground. He has Sean Bowen on board who is now 7 behind Harry Cobden with just a few days to go but he has nearly 30 rides left to take so fingers crossed for a bit of luck. Blazing Court will undoubtedly come on for the run but should still run a belter for his supportive team of owners. He runs in Mary & John Thackray’s colours today.

Yesterday Shinji ran a solid race, jumping much better than previously and wasn’t beaten too far back in 6th. That will have given him confidence and he can build on that run. Continuance ran a belter on his first run for us and first run since October under Kieran Shoemark who was pleased with him and is sure we can win races with him over similar trips. He’s one for Juvenile Hurdling in time too so will be a fun dual purpose horse to get involved in so do get in touch as there are still shares remaining in him.
