A stunning morning here and I know we desperately need rain, it’s so lovely to wake to the sun coming up and birds in full song!
A busy evening where we are represented at two meetings. Four runners back at Worcester where we are delighted to return for their first fixture of the season. Many of you will have seen the awful photos of the racecourse under water for quite a few weeks this winter and so they have done so well to get everything back up and running. A friendly course which is pretty local to us and we enjoy going there and cannot wait until the crowds are back too.
Enforcement is our 1st runner of the day under Kai Lenihan who rides out here regularly and is based with Oliver Sherwood. Kai was due to ride him earlier in the season but frustratingly our old lorry broke down on the way and they never got there. New lorry purchased soon afterwards and great to give Kai another chance on him for our Racing Club whose members that are there today are excited to be racing. He was outpaced and didn’t enjoy his run last time over hurdles and returns to fences and we hope he enjoys himself a bit more this afternoon.
Then it is the turn of the girls and the first of the mares running is Batsford Stud’s Miss Antipova who ran the best race of her career last time at Southwell to defy her odds of 50-1 and finish a good 2nd over fences. She’s a lot shorter in the betting today in what is still a competitive looking race – James Best gets on with her superbly well and a repeat performance would see her in the mix again today.
Our 3rd runner is in the first division of the National Hunt Flat Race and sees Just A Diva for Martin & Jacqueline Jones and their Family who are a big part of our team as Martin breaks in our youngsters. Diva is a bit lively at home so has a hood fitted today and James has ridden her out in a racing saddle & pads ahead of her debut. If he manages to keep her enthusiasm under wraps early on she should run a nice race.
Finally at Worcester Kazontherazz runs for The Meagher Family in the 2nd Division and what looks like a hotter division of the National Hunt Flat Race. She ran a huge race to finish a somewhat unlucky 3rd on her debut as strides after the line she was in front and I don’t think her 2nd run was her true running as I’m sure she’s much better than that. She seems well at home and I hope she’ll run a big race.
Deb Butler, who is such an integral part of our team, celebrates her birthday today. As the main work rider for Enforcement & Kazontherazz, I hope they realise what they need to do to ensure she has the best day! Happy Birthday Deb.
Over at Chepstow Evening Meeting our warrior Solstice Star runs over hurdles partnered by Fergus Gregory who comes in regularly. He’s in good order and although it’s over a year since he last got his head in front, I’m hopeful of a solid run from him despite him still being a few pounds higher than his last winning mark.
Good luck to the whole team on what will be our final runners of the 2020-2021 season.
Why not get involved with us with a share in an unraced horse that will make his racecourse debut shortly… Fiddledi Dee has been bred by HRH The Princess Royal and we’ve had him here over a month and he has a very likeable attitude. Have a look at this video and get in touch if you would like to know more and/or come and watch him in action by clicking on the link below…
