Glorious sunshine and lovely to see the horses in training turned out in their paddocks without rugs on and those out on their summer holidays also basking in the sun. It really does improve the mood too … as well as ice creams which were shared around the team this morning!
Although we are quieter on the horse front at the moment the team have been flat out steam cleaning, painting and generally tidying up around the yard so it’s never a quiet period.
We also have a runner tonight at Worcester. Teleleo, who has been with us since a yearling, makes his racecourse debut in a bumper for the Martin Keighley Racing Partnership 24 and Barbara Elwell was the successful person in the random draw to have her colours in action on him for his first season. We do a draw each season for our partnerships amongst all partners for the honour of having their silks on the jockey of their horse and it works really well. Freddie Keighley takes the ride tonight. Teleleo did have a racecourse gallop at Kempton recently and went well but nothing really compares to the hustle and bustle and competitiveness of an actual race. We hope he enjoys the experience and runs well for his enthusiastic group of owners.
We then head to Bangor tomorrow with a couple of runners so two days of racing after a quiet week on the racing front. Good luck to everyone.
