A new week and a pretty stunning morning too. Most of the horses spent the weekends in the field as it was decent weather and it’s great to see them relaxing out together. The grass is starting to come through but they have haylage too and still get their breakfasts & supper as they do need their hard feed as well. They get an extra rug overnight as well which is taken off again in the morning.
Two runners today at Southwell, a course that I enjoy and that seems to suit a lot of our horses. Dariya (Fergus Gregory), runs in the colours of David Parry, back over hurdles after a couple of spins on the flat after losing her confidence a little when tried over fences. She will hopefully improve as the ground dries out and with winning flat and hurdles form we hope she can bounce back to give us some fun over the summer under both codes.
James Best partners Matt Capp’s Robsam later in the card also over hurdles. He ran a blinder to finish 2nd at Hexham in September under Richard Johnson but returned with an injury which has kept him off until now. The team have done a good job to get him back to teh course today and we hope he can run another solid race in what looks a competitive hurdle.
