Martin’s Blog 22nd January

Another busy couple of days – I’m always saying that I know, but things are never quiet around here!

Yesterday we had Paddy Brennan in to school Young Phoenix over fences and he jumped well. Paddy also schooled World War and, with the help of our team here – Harley, Max Comley, Kieran and Paddy Berkins we also schooled Solstice Star, Raving Bonkers, Bobble Emerald, Gold Mountain, Somewhere To Be and Oscar World.

Second lot Debden Bank and Cotswold Prince went to Jon Trice-Rolph’s for some schooling and I was delighted with them too. A good morning!

We had Jemima Turner – back from her Christmas in Thailand, in to help Maggie Turner and our farrier Nick Partridge in as usual too.

It’s great to have Harry Stock back into work. With the help and support of the Injured Jockeys’ Fund’s Oaksey House in Lambourn he’s got back to work in half the time the Doctors originally said. They are so lucky to have those facilities but you also need the drive to want to work hard to get back to work.

Another ‘Stock’ was in this morning too – Harry’s sister Abi. We are absolutely thrilled that Abi has managed to be selected to ride in the York Ride of Their Lives race in June that Belinda won in 2017. Belinda helped her with her application and we were certain she’d be accepted but it was still a relief and a huge boost to her, Harry, their mum Zoe & all the family after losing dad Chris so tragically last autumn. He’ll be so proud of Abi when she makes her debut on the Knavesmire next June. She’s a good rider but needs to have more faith in herself! She’s been regularly riding out early before work with Freddie (before school) to help him get his pony fit for pony racing and she’s been a wonderful mentor/confidence giver for him. That meant there was no shortage of footage of Abi riding up the gallops when she needed a video to send off with her application!

We’ll be supporting Abi all we can in the lead up to June’s exciting race and we hope to provide her with a ride too unless she gets something even faster than we can find! We’ll keep you posted as we have lots and lots planned to raise money for Macmillan but do support her and follow her fundraising page by clicking HERE

Great to see David Robinson and Andrew Riley here today for a catch up and to discuss how to make our Owners’ Room even better than it is! Andrew also has wonderful fund-raising ideas for Abi!
