Forecast was given a good ride by young Harry Atkins who switched him off and got him jumping for fun. Although looking like he was booked for 3rd place he faded into 4th after the last hurdle but it was still a solid run. Ideally we think he’d prefer it softer and settles so well now that he probably wants his hood off next time.
Duke of Luckley (Sean Bowen) maybe ran a little flat and needs longer between his races. Jumping well, on the final circuit he looked like he was going to be involved in the finish however he didn’t quite get home and finished 3rd. We may well return to a flatter track for him. Both are fine this morning.
Today we had Sean Bowen, James Best and Warren Marston all in. We worked a few including Rolling Clouds, Another Day Out, Back on the Lash, Brianna Rose, Myfanwy’s Magic and Miladygrace and schooled a few too including Genovese and Redbridge Rambler.
Ludlow with two runners today. Wide To West (James Best) will need me to be happy with the ground to run. We had nearly 5mm of rain overnight although we’d all gone to bed early as we had a power cut in the house (thankfully the yard’s power cut was only an hour, unlike ours!). However, Ludlow don’t report to have had any rain. James gets on well with him at home as he’s not the easiest and lets hope he runs a much improved race that on his debut for us.
Samtara is Harry Atkin’s 3rd ride of the week as a Conditional and has to be one of the most unlucky horses I’ve trained as he’s somehow still a maiden having finished 2nd far too many times. He’s the outstider of the field as he reverts to hurdles but I’m hopeful he will outrun his odds and give Harry a really good spin.
