Martin’s Blog 22nd February

Brilliant sunshine yesterday – thick fog today! Poor Matt Capp drove 2 hours to see his horses in thick fog all the way – dedication for you!

The horsebox left early this morning heading nearly 200 miles north to Catterick. Both horses partnered by Champion Jockey Richard Johnson with Reve our first runner hoping to open his account over hurdles. He’s been pretty unlucky so far and was surely going to win at Leicester when falling at the 2nd last and then looked to be going best of all at Ludlow turning for home but just got beaten. He deserves to win one and is favourite today but has an improving looking opponent in Lady Camelot to beat and she receives plenty of weight from him so he’s not got an easy task on his hands.

In the following race Solstice Star returns to fences after a good season over hurdles with two wins for his new partnership, Foxtrot Racing. He’s not won over fences yet and this looks competitive but the ground should suit and we are hoping for a solid run.
