Martin’s Blog 21st November

Rain turned to snow here this morning and a wintery feel at Southwell yesterday where we had four runners. Reve ran a much improved race under a good ride from Leighton Aspell to finish 2nd over hurdles to a well regarded Dan Skelton horse and delight Irene & Ollie Ryan. Young Phoenix will come on for his seasonal debut and jumped well and Mello Yello finished tired in the bumper but Tom Bellamy said she felt a nice mare but, as we know will need time and won’t be rushed.

The Stock Family were thrilled with Finnick Glory who finished 4th in the bumper staying on well under Harry Stock and a performance which would surely have made Chris proud. Lots to look forward to.

Four runners today too although at two different meetings. At Chepstow Richard Johnson is reunited with Solstice Star for Foxtrot Racing and they will be aiming to try and follow up their recent course win there. He seems in good form. Lerichi Belle runs in the last race and Harry Stock is on board and she will hopefully run another solid race on a track she’s run well at before.

At Kempton tonight we run Matravers back on the flat for the Martin Keighley Racing Club after a few disappointing runs over hurdles. Let’s hope it rejuvenates him. Finally Sarasota Star makes his debut for Torben Dal and Jon Hughes. He’s a lovely 2 year old by Zebedee and we look forward to getting him on the track. Joey Haynes rides both.
