Bitterly cold this morning and two horses on an away day so up early and a worthwhile trip.
Samtara pulled very hard yesterday and didn’t give himself much of a chance but he jumped well and will have learnt a lot. He will need to switch off better but that will hopefully come.
Back on the Lash heads to Market Rasen today for the Pertemps Hurdle Series Qualifier over nearly 3 miles. He was a fair 5th at Cheltenham last time however that was good to soft and we are yet to see whether he goes on soft ground. He seems well and our Conditional Patrick Cowley rides and takes a useful 5lbs off his back.
Lovely to see Chris and Helen Gerring here this morning to watch the horses on the gallops. Chris & Helen were partners in Sky Calling quite a few years ago and we are hoping they might get involved again – they had so much fun with Sky so it’s lots to live up to but we are sure we can try our best!
Susie Goodall from The Bridge of Hope Resume Foundation called in late morning which was very interesting hearing all about their work and we are keen to be involved as and when we can.
We have declared four horses for tomorrow’s card at Catterick so it was a bit fraught in the office first thing! Lots to organise and another earlier than normal start to head there tomorrow.
