Martin’s Blog 21st March

There are patient owners and then there are really patient owners and Matt Capp has to be in the really patient category as his own horse, Robsam, returns today at Chepstow after a massive 1017 days off the track following a leg injury. Our team and our vet, Jeremy Swan, have been fantastic to get him back to the track and he really is one of the yard favourites and named after Matt’s two children.

His best form has all been on good ground and he’s obviously going to need the run after all that time off but it’s just great to get him back to the track. Good luck Robsam and Matt!

We schooled a few this morning including Bobbi’s Beauty (Fergus Gregory), Shinji (Harry), Springs A Girl (Fergus), Reve (Louise, Pacific (Harry), Oneforthefairgreen (Harry) and Jubilee Girl (Fergus) and Freddie gave Mr Mafia a pop up the fences ahead of Larkhill on Saturday which is their next run.

It was fabulous to see our yard farrier, Nick Partridge, back in yesterday. Nick suffered a horrendous skiing fall in France in July and was in hospital for a few weeks and even transported back by ambulance. Injuries include 10 fractured ribs, a fractured sternum, collarbone and shoulder too plus a punctured lung so it was a worrying time for his family for quite a bit. Thankfully he’s well on the mend and his farrier brother-in-law, Andy, rallied round to ensure that we weren’t left without a farrier either and him and his ex-apprentice Corey have been superb. We wish Nick a really speedy and full recovery.
