Martin’s Blog 21st July

Jo Stainer in this morning to watch Lord Condi on the gallops, Warren Marston in to ride him. Andrew Tinkler in for one lot before rushing off to Market Rasen for one ride in the 1st. The miles these jockeys do…..

We worked Lord Condi, Matravers, Enforcement, Hartshorne Abbie, Cul De Poule and Oscar World. Plenty of the others are cantering and the new youngsters who arrived yesterday have settled in well. No other visitors so a very quiet Saturday morning.

Some welcome rain last night but not enough. 2mm barely covering the ground. Cracks in the fields – we are desperate for it.

Kim Smith-Bingham called in last night for a catch up. Kim supplies us with a variety of products and his Immun-Ocean Gastro Race and Blood Tonic are particular favourites of ours and have definitely helped keep our horses at top form for longer over the last 12 months.

Clemmie and Orlando Fraser invited Belinda and I for drinks last night at Waverton Stud which was great fun with super company. Clemmie is the step-daughter of the late Mary Hambro so much discussion on the horses that we bought following her sad death earlier this year and especially Primogeniture, a particular favourite of Marys’ who runs tomorrow at Stratford.
