Martin’s Blog 20th September

Another stunning morning here and Tyrone Hanlon and Paul Davis here to watch the horses work 1st lot. Great to see Tyrone and Belinda was especially pleased that he ensured that all of our winning photographs in the office are now straight! She’s under strict orders to keep them looking straight!

We worked Fairmount, Cut and Run, Reve, Debden Bank, Back on the Lash and Chequered View. Matt Capp was here 2nd lot to come to Jon Trice-Rolph’s yard with us and watch Dreamsundermyfeet and Robsam schooling under Harry Stock and Paddy Berkins. Both jumped superbly. Matt is visiting Batsford Stud later on today where we have our foal – Spice Girl’s full brother and there are shares available in him. We hope he can give us as much fun as his full sister did. Before he visits the stud he’s brought his bike with him so is doing a tour of the Cotswolds – perhaps we need to start a Team Keighley Bike Club as Neil Lloyd, from FBC Manby Bowdler, has been known to arrive on his bike and in lycra too….!

Newton Abbot today with two old favourites – Mr Mafia and Bobble Emerald. Both are in cracking form but both races are competitive. A course we like a lot and is well worth the drive – although a happier experience if the M5 is kind both ways on a Friday?! Mr Mafia has the services of the Champion Jockey, Richard Johnson, and the combination have been successful twice so far this summer. He’s back over fences and should hopefully be thereabouts again today.

Bobble Emerald is partnered by Leighton Aspell and ran a cracker last time out at Southwell to finish 2nd. If he builds on that he could be in the shake up again.
