Martin’s Blog 20th March

Great to see so many of you at The Festival last week – what a great week of racing. Such a shame that both of our horses (Found On & Back On The Lash) were non-runners on the day due to the wet ground but not surprising – what a winter we have all endured! Today is not only National Happiness Day but the first day of spring – let’s hope we now have rain in moderation and that the ground dries up enough …but not too much!

Wide To West ran a belter on Monday at Southwell to finish 2nd – just unlucky to bump into one. He jumped well thoughout though and built on his 2nd at Leicester in February and his owners were thrilled.

Two runners today at Market Rasen. Massima Bella, who is well bred but hasn’t yet shown us very much in bumpers, makes her debut in a maiden hurdle under Harry Akins who has partnered her in all three races to date. We very much hope that hurdles bring out a huge improvement in her.

Matthew Baker’s Brianna Rose has had a mid winter break and today runs in the 3m Mares’ Handicap Chase under Sean Bowen. Only 5 horses go to post but there isn’t much to split them and so it’s a competitive race. Good luck to them both.
