Martin’s Blog 20th March

What a fabulous week of racing at Cheltenham – let’s hope we can be back there all together in 2021. We were glued to the Gold Cup, not least because in 2018 Gerry Hogan, who has bought so many of our lovely horses, watched a 5 year old win a maiden point to point impressively at Dromahane and rang me straight away. Sadly we didn’t have anyone with deep enough pockets to buy him (his price then now looks cheap….) and his name…. Minella Indo! The boys persuaded their mum to put a bit of their pocket money on him, and she did too, so they were all screaming him up the hill! What a race it was.

We are at Uttoxeter today with Solstice Star who won the race last year in great style under Lilly Pinchin. Today Kai Lenehan is in the saddle – he has been riding out for us once a week all season and deserves a chance on a nice horse. He isn’t getting any younger and is harder to get fit and although he is in fabulous form at home, I think he may need the run a little. Great to get him out though and no-one will be screaming at the tv more than Freddie who rode him out throughout Lockdown 1 and absolutely adores him. Good luck to Richard East and all at Foxtrot Racing and lets hope he runs a blinder and returns safe and sound.

Our newsletter is out this morning in a new format so hope you enjoy it. Do get in touch if you aren’t on the mailing list and wish to be.
