Although we’ve not had any runners so far this week it’s been a busy one with plenty of visitors and lots going on. John & Claire Abernethy were here on Monday to see their new horse, Capital Force, who has arrived from Ireland and has settled in really well. Great to catch up with them and excited about cracking on with him. We had a schooling session on Monday too with William Kennedy in first lot and schooled plenty over hurdles and fences.
Yesterday our Chairman Jon Hughes joined me in the buggy both 1st and 2nd lot and we took the horses around the Estate and on some of Christopher & Annie Cox’s Estate too – about 5 miles of old turf banks, woodlands etc and the horses loved it. All the team seemed to do too and Jon had a smile from ear to ear as well! My driving couldn’t have been too bad! It was a sunny afternoon and the horses loved being turned out in their paddocks having a buck & a kick!
This morning we had a catch up with Landlord Robert Wharton and his son George and Jon Hughes was in again too. It’s an exciting time with the construction of our wash down area nearly completed, the area for our muck trailer also nearly completed and the footings going in for our new stable block. So always plenty of planning discussions with Robert and George and a great meeting.
Sadly we have also have a funeral today – Jason Medcroft who leaves wife Emms and daughters Evie and Madeline. It is less than two years since we were celebrating their wedding – cancer is such a cruel disease but he is now out of pain and all our love goes out to the girls.
On a brighter note, wishing a Happy Birthday today to long time supporters of ours Mark Boothright & Elouise Reynard and Mary Cull as well. Enjoy.
