Martin’s Blog 1st October

October already and great to work lots of the horses on the grass mile 1/4 gallop this morning which they seemed to enjoy too. We worked Witness Protection, Capricia, Solstice Star, Sarasota Star, Raving Bonkers, Back on the Lash, Dreamsundermyfeet, Robsam, Samtara, Pinnacle Peak and Capital Force. All the rest just cantered.

Two runners today at Southwell. Big Nasty makes his seasonal debut under Leighton Aspell in a Novices’ Hurdle over 3 miles. He should enjoy the soft ground and we like him a lot and are excited about his future. Owned by the Peel Racing Syndicate, we are hoping for a solid run from him.

Leighton also partners our second runner, Debden Bank who has been disappointing in bumpers as we always thought a lot of him so hopefully the switch to hurdles will bring out some improvement in him. Ultimately he’ll go over fences I’m sure as he has the size to be a chaser.
