Martin’s Blog 1st May

May Day! A glorious morning too and horses that are still in training just doing a couple of canters.

Abi Stock was in for two lots in her quest to reach full fitness to ride at York on 15th June in her Macmillan Cancer Ride of their Lives race. In aid of a charity so close to our hearts and hers in memory of her late father Chris who was a great friend to us all. We enjoyed a brilliant night with Abi & friends on Saturday at the Horse & Hounds in Broadway at a Racenight to raise funds for her race. She raised nearly £1000 with Graham Hollick in charge of the races, Belinda & Abi were the bookies and delicious food served by Di and her team. Do sponsor Abi by clicking HERE.

One runner today on the flat – we head to Southwell with Sarasota Star who will be partnered by Tom Queally. Tom’s ridden winners for us on the flat before and, indeed, has an enviable 100% strike rate over hurdles – he’s won the Flat Jockeys Hurdle Race twice for us on Bobble Emerald & Solstice Star!

I think the track and trip should suit and we are hoping to build on his run last time where he was just run out of 3rd as they approached the line. It will be interesting to hear what Tom Queally thinks of him.

Great racing at Punchestown yesterday although it looked pretty wet – more fantastic cards there tonight.

Good luck to Kitty King at Badminton this weekend. Kitty’s father Peter owns Mr Mafia and Kitty is one of the most hardworking people we know and deserves to do well on her lovely horse Ceylor Lan. Interestingly, Ceylor Lan is part owned by Sally Lloyd-Baker who we trained Morning Herald to win a few races for. Good luck to them all.
