Martin’s Blog 1st February

Andrew Tinkler in this morning and we schooled some of the horses including Morning Herald (Andrew), Cut and Run (Ash), Lerichi Belle (Harry), Lady Vitesse (Alfie), Bobble Emerald (Ash) and Pirate Look (Andrew) some led by Champion Court (Kieran).

Farriers Nick Partridge and Amy Clarke in this morning.

Sporty Yankee ran a very pleasing race yesterday at Leicester under a ‘never say die’ ride from Harry Stock. He was one of the first under pressure and looked like finishing well down the field, but he kept finding more under persuasion from Harry to just go down by 3/4 of a length to a very well handicapped winner. All his owners were not surprisingly delighted with what was possibly a career best run from him and a great ride from Harry too.

Just one runner at Towcester today in the first race – Spice Girl runs with Harry Stock taking 7lbs off her back. He’s won on her three times already including on her hurdling debut at Towcester in November. This is much tougher today and the favourite will be very hard to beat. We are unsure as to whether she will handle the ground but seems to handle it ok on the grass at home – time will tell. She’s in good form and they say never to be afraid of one horse!
