Another brave run from Viking Mistress at Worcester on Tuesday under Champion Jockey Richard Johnson to finish 4th and earn herself a holiday. We were pleased with her but Richard said she felt flat compared to when he won on her in the summer. We didn’t think she should have been favourite as it was a massive step up in class for her and we therefore weren’t at all disappointed. In fact, including the charity race she won first time for the Club last October, she’s run 14 times and won three times, finished 2nd four times, 3rd once and 4th twice so a trip into the Winners’ Enclosure 10 times and it would have been another 2nd had she not had an unfortunate fall late on in her Lingfield Chase. What a record and what a lovely horse for our Racing Club so huge thanks to James Richardson and his family for leasing her to us.
So wet today but Bob Brunt and Jon Hughes braved the elements to come and watch the horses on the gallops. Bob is a member of our Racing Club and we are delighted that he’s decided to take the next step and join us in our 4th Martin Keighley Racing Partnership with Pomme De Nuit. There is still a share left in this exciting and well bred youngster and with no outlay (she is being leased from her breeders Chris & Fran Marriott) there is only a monthly fee to pay and with very regular updates and the finances 100% transparent too, it couldn’t be easier or more cost effective to join. Do get in touch if you’d like to watch her on the gallops.
My team do such a great job as it’s not the easiest job when it is wet outside but I’m sure I have the best team of people behind me that I’ve ever had and with a lot more horses in training than last season and Cheltenham’s first meeting of the season next week, there is a great buzz around the yard.
