Martin’s Blog 19th May

No runners since the beginning of the week but the team have been busy mowing, steam cleaning and re-painting the yard and I definitely feel we are ahead of where we usually are at this time of year. It’s a lovely time of year and great to get more of the team and horses out on their holidays. Stunning mornings too.

A fabulous supper with Mark Boothright and Elouise Renouard at the Hollow Bottom last night and Mark was in this morning to watch the horses on the gallops including his impressive Sunday Bumper winner Back on the Lash and his new horse, Debden Bank, a full brother to Buckle Street whom he now owns with Tyrone Hanlon – a lovely horse who we hope he is going to be very lucky for them. Jo Stainer also in this morning to watch work and entertain us all!

Andrew Tinkler, Tom Bellamy, Warren Marston, Mark Caswell and Max Comley all in to ride out and we worked Enforcement, By Sulanami, Debden Bank, Matravers, Cotswold Prince, Forecast, Sugar Storm, Lady Vitesse, Peeping Penny and Ask Alice. All the rest just cantered.

Two runners today at Bangor. Dr Dunraven runs in the Novices’ Handicap Hurdle – he’s not been straight forward to train but seems in good form so we are hopeful of a very competitive run. Pomme De Nuit makes her second racecourse start and needs to build on her last run to be competitive today. We’ll not see the best of her until she jumps hurdles.

Meanwhile at Wincanton Freddie & Bubbles are back in action so good luck to them too.
