Martin’s Blog 19th June

Has summer eventually arrived?! A lovely morning here and we had visitors Paul Davis, Stefan Hibbett, Lisa Wheeler and Stu & Lisa White.

We had a fun day yesterday at Stratford. Christina Dee’s Pacific didn’t really deserve to get beaten, going down by a neck on the line, as she’d run an absolute belter. We had intended to ride her positively but hadn’t expected four of the nine runners to be taken out of the race by the second hurdle so the field was depleted and she was forced to make most of the running. She is such an honest mare though and jumped really well out in front only to be headed by the heavily gambled favourite approaching the line. Chris couldn’t make it yesterday so if there was one reason to be happy she got beaten it was the fact that she wouldn’t have been there to enjoy the win! We’ll have lots of fun with her.

Lost In The Mist ran another genuine race to be placed for the fifth time for our Racing Club when finishing 4th under Bradley Roberts. We’d assumed, and hoped, there was going to be plenty of pace but it was a steadily run, muddly race and he was eventually tapped for toe when the pace quickened. He’s giving our Racing Club plenty of visits to the placed parts of the winners enclosure and surely a race will go his way soon.

Today we head to Worcester with Duke of Luckley under James Best. He seems in good form but it is a competitive race and he needs to bounce back from a disappointing run at Newton Abbot last time but Worcester should suit him better.
