Overcast in Salcombe but the sun trying to come out and another chilled out family day in prospect whatever the weather. We did plenty of walking yesterday – much of it along the coastline which is absolutely stunning and we all certainly earnt our fish & chip supper last night! A quick drink with Nigel & Vic Twiston-Davies and their family shortly after Nigel’s Double Court had got up to deny Dreamsundermyfeet 2nd place at Worcester!
So Dreamsundermyfeet failed to add to his three wins in a row yesterday on his second start over fences under Ben Godfrey. He’s been on the go a long time and, added to the fact they went a million miles an hour to the first fence and so many wanted to make the running and him being a novice so possibly being put off by that, he was never travelling and I think he ran a bit flat. To actually finish 3rd was a gutsy performance as I was never happy with him as he’s usually such a strong traveller so a well earned holiday for him now.
Capricia at Stratford today under Sean Bowen – her 2nd start over fences. Last time, on her chasing debut, she stayed on well to finish 4th and if she builds on that she should be thereabouts today. We’ve always thought we would see the best of her over fences as she’s bred to be a chaser and hopefully she’ll give her supportive bunch of owners a good day out at one of our local tracks. Good luck Capricia!
