A beautiful morning and Paul Davies and Pip Frankish in to watch the horses on the gallops. Jasean Spraggett was in to ride two lots as her last minute preparation for the Hannah’s Wilberry Wonder Pony Charity / Bob Champion Charity Race tomorrow at Cheltenham and she’s so far raised over an amazing £17000. Good luck to her tomorrow.
Ollie Garner was here delivering our Natural Flake Shavings and Mark Caswell was here for a catch up too. He is our Pest Controller and we should have persuaded both of them to bring their boots!
We were delighted with Johnny Og at Chepstow on Monday as he showed a much improved effort and Ian Popham was pleased with how he felt and reported that he had a real cut at his fences. He just needs the handicapper to give him a bit of a break now. We were also pleased with Cup of Ambition who ran well and was never going to beat the favourite so it was a 2nd place I was happy with for once!
Today Bobble Emerald doesn’t run as he scoped badly – some are more effected from the pollen at this time of year and I think he may be one of them.
Any Currency is in great form and bids to win the race he won last year – he’s another year older but doesn’t realise it at home and we’ll see if he retains his enthusiasm this afternoon. Andrew Tinkler rides. Forecast was also entered at Taunton tomorrow night but that looked hot enough and although today’s Cheltenham race is red hot, he deserves his chance and his enthusiastic group of owners will hopefully have a great day out. Conor Shoemark, his regular rider, is on him again today.
Tonight the boys are Mascots at Cheltenham Town’s Charity IJF Match of Cheltenham Legends vs Sir A P McCoy’s XI and I’m taking a penalty at half time!!! Should be a fantastic night and hopefully raise a lot of money for charity.
