Martin’s Blog 19th April

Glorious sunshine yesterday at Cheltenham and a real warm atmosphere at the course too. Both runners ran big races without being placed and both are well this morning and out in the field for the day. Buckle Street is now having a hugely well earned holiday.

Fi Gamble was in again this morning and Chris Dee here to watch Pirate Look and she is thrilled with him.

Three runners today back at Cheltenham. Spice Girl owes us nothing after winning 5 times this season. The ground will suit her much better than The Festival and the step up in trip should do too. A competitive race but she’ll have a good each way chance.

The ground will also suit Brillare Momento better than The Festival although she ran well there for a long way. She’s in great order ,has already won twice at Cheltenham and will hopefully go very close again today. Aidan Coleman rides her.

Finally Chequered View is one of the outsiders in the bumper but has run well being placed in her three bumper starts so far. She does need to step up on those performances but if she finished mid division or nearer we’d be thrilled with her as she will improve as she jumps obstacles. Great to have a runner at HQ for her owner/breeder HRH The Princess Royal too.

Yesterday whilst we were racing Ross Hemming’s Leisure Ride team were working hard here waxing both our circular and straight gallops to ensure they are completely dust free for the dry weather (hopefully!) over the summer making our already superb carpet gallop surface even better!
