We are slowly coming back down to earth after an absolutely wonderful day on Sunday here at our Annual Owners’ Day. Over 150 owners and friends seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day with so many lovely thank you letters all agreeing how fabulous the horses all looked. Huge credit to my team who ensured the whole parade was seamless and obviously ensured the horses were turnout out immaculately.
Not only do we have the most exciting bunch of horses, including a lovely group of young horses, (we still have a few shares available!) we have a brilliant team of people here and, as we all know, we are nothing without the team behind us and Foxy and the team did us proud. A massive thank you too to Janne Bishop for her endless hard work before and during the day ensuring everyone was well fed and was ably assisted by Mary Cull and Tilly Jarrett on the day too. So many other thank yous from Chairman Jon Hughes and his wife Jack, Paul Davis and Belinda for organising the whole day and Paul for his debut on the microphone with me during the Parade too and to so many people who helped with food. What a supportive team we have and we are always surprised how much support we have from so many people, we are so very lucky.
Whilst we were all focused on making the day here a huge success, Wendy & Maisie Rolleson generously gave up their day to take Freddie and his pony Bubbles to Wolverhampton Pony Racing – there are only 8 racedays for them to compete in during the year and he didn’t want to miss it. He’s never gone anywhere without Belinda so there was an inevitable wobble as we waved them off (from both of them probably!) but his best friend Richard Cook went as his valet & stable lad and they had a wonderful day. The biggest field he’s ever ridden in with 10 runners, he finished 5th and, apart from being disappointed with his start, he was buzzing – such a great place to learn, such lucky children and he can’t wait for his next one. Only 10 and he’s ridden in 6 races this year, as I say, so lucky.
Yesterday was spent clearing up and sorting things out after Sunday and today we have Torben & Siri Dal are here late morning to see Sarasota Star.
