The week seems to have flown by and, although we’ve had no runners this week so far, we have had lots of visitors including Neil Clifton, Geoff & Caroline Godsall, Jon Hughes, Paul Davis, Mike & Mella Wright, Caroline Keevil, Matt Capp and his father Andy, Simon Hart, Mark, Eloise & Elliott Boothright and Julie & Richard Kinsey.
Some of those owners were in on Wednesday to watch schooling where we schooled Kazontherazz, She Has Notions, Mahanakhon Power, Brianna Rose, Mozzaro, Pay The Woman, Sarasota Star, Ben Buie, Cut & Run and Duke of Luckley. James Best, Patrick Cowley and Harry Atkins doing the schoooling on them. Claire Hart brought Owners for Owners’ Melekhov to canter on the gallops in front of his owners as she gets him race fit to try point to pointing this season.
This evening Michael Chitty called into evening stables to see his dual winner Ten Past Midnight and he was thrilled with how he looked. He’s moved up into Mr Mafia’s number 1 box and seems to be very happy at the centre of attention there!

Many of the local yards – both point to point and professional – use our gallops regularly and it’s something we are very proud of that they appreciate our fabulous facilities. Our facilities have been improved yet further with the launch of our new Fun Ride which is open every day after 11am, when we have usually finished on the gallops, to hire through the Fun Ride page on this website. It’s been very popular since we went live 10 days ago and is a venture that our Landlords, The Wharton Family, have been thinking about launching for quite some years and we are thrilled that we have helped them achieve the goal. We’ve had so much positive feedback and are adding more jumps regularly too – it’s only 4 miles which is shorter than some of our local rides that are 8-10 miles but, of course, has the additional optional extra of a spin up our mile long gallop and some people have commented that the shorter ride suits them too. Exciting times.
Lots of runners tomorrow – 4 at Catterick and one at Chepstow and physio Hannah Ashton was here today putting the finishing touches on them all. More about them in the morning.
