Forecast ran a fantastic race in defeat at Aintree last night under Champion Jockey Richard Johnson. The steady early pace undoubtedly helped him as he was tackling further than he has won over before and he luckily now switches off so well too. Richard cruised through the field and joined the favourite approaching the last still on the bridle and was convinced he had him covered, however Forecast wasn’t fluent and the eventual winner, carrying 9lbs less than Forecast, found more and we had to settle for 2nd place.

A great performance though and unsurprisingly some very happy members of his partnership, most of whom spent the night in Liverpool! They’ve been patient with him and are now reaping the rewards and there is surely more fun to have with him this summer too maybe on the flat too as well as over fences. Such a versatile horse and he is A1 this morning.

No runners today. Some great racing today and football action too.

Tomorrow Back on the Lash heads to Market Rasen under Richard Johnson. It’s a competitive race and he seems in good form at home and I hope he’ll put in a decent performance.
