Martin’s Blog 17th February

Not the day we planned yesterday but all three horses returned in one piece which is always the most important thing. Ben Buie will now have a well deserved holiday, Dreamsundermyfeet ran well for a long way but didn’t quite get up the hill so needs to return to a flatter track and we will hopefully find something that comes to light with Spanish Present.

A bit of a crazy busy morning starting with a new arrival – Bobbi’s Beauty arriving from Ireland at 5am – a point to point winning mare who was bred by Pat Moore, who sadly passed away last December and has been bought by current owners Ollie & Irene Ryan. She looks a lovely type and has already had a walk & trot on our circular sand loop and is very bonny.

We have had our vet, physio and farrier all in this morning and a few owners too – Tilly Jarrett, Alex Harvey, Bobbi Witts, Mike & Mella Wright and Paul Davis with his many hats on too! Polly Turner, who we are lucky enough to have on a Friday as part of her placement from Hartpury College, has been here for two weeks of work experience and a tutor from Hartpury called in to see how she is getting on.

Luke Harvey came in and worked his point to pointer with the string as he wanted to see how fit it is ahead of his pointing debut and he seemed pleased with him. It would no doubt be a few years since Luke & Warren Marston worked upsides each other!

Our Annual Finance Meeting this afternoon too so all in all a very busy day so far!

Happy Birthday to Paddy Berkins, our Head of Travelling, today!
