Four years ago Classic Colori gave us our first flat winner under Willy Twiston-Davies for Nick & Lisa Ponting at Lingfield. Since then we’ve only had a handful of runners but with some success and it would be great to add to our tally today as we head to Wolverhampton with two runners.
Matravers is our first runner in the 4.15pm, the Betway Amateur Riders’ Handicap over 1m 1f for our Racing Club under Paddy Berkins who joined us in the summer. Something we are keen to do here is to reward hard work and dedication. It’s a tough sport but I believe that if you work hard, are polite, have the right attitude and are keen to go the extra mile then you deserve a chance. Paddy has had plenty of rides point to pointing and a few in Amateur races over jumps but this is his first flat ride. Matravers has a good draw but is sometimes slow out of the stalls but if he gets a good start he should run well.
Our other runner is Torben Dal & Jon Hughes’ 2 year old Sarasota Star who ran really well on debut and we hope he will build on that. It’s a competitive race and he’s not got the good draw that Matravers has earlier in the card which is a huge disadvantage but we are hopeful of a good show. He’s a horse I think a lot of and I’m sure we’ll have a lot of fun with him.
Bitterly cold her this morning with icy roads too so plenty of salting to do before 1st lot and the team deserve all the goodies that are building up from owners & visitors for Christmas for all their hard work in this weather!
From Wolverhampton to Fakenham via home – we’ve got 3 runners at Fakenham tomorrow but back over jumps tomorrow.
