Martin’s Blog 17th August

James Nixon was in this morning so his Jockey Coach Warren Marston called in to watch him ride work and caught up with him afterwards too. It is so valuable for these young jockeys to have jockey coaches as those chosen to coach them are people like Warren who are ex-jockeys themselves and their advice and experience is so important.

Two runners at Fontwell Park today. The Kvilleken runs for the Martin Keighley Racing Club and is partnered by Conor Shoemark. He’s a little monkey who doesn’t always try his best and is quite frustrating. Let’s see today if he bounces back to anything like his best form – it would be great if he did.

Bobble Emerald is partnered by Champion Jockey Richard Johnson and returns after nearly 5 months off the track. He’s not been the easiest to train and hasn’t won since Tom Queally won a Hurdle Race for Flat Jockeys on him at Lingfield Park in November but I’m pleased with how he has been going at home and would be delighted if he at least ran into a place for his very enthusiastic and supportive owners.
