Martin’s Blog 16th March

Well what a wonderful week that was at Cheltenham with too many highlights to mention. Great to meet up with so many friends and experience such great racing. Disappointing to have our intended runners balloted out but everything happens for a reason and there is always another day.

Uttoxeter today as long as the winds don’t get any worse – very windy here today but pleased that racing survived the inspection with monitoring ongoing.

Back on the Lash now doesn’t run as he’d not want it heavy – there are plenty of opportunities for him coming up and he’s too nice to risk on ground that worried me. He could have left his season there today.

Solstice Star is in the first race for Lady Riders so we have Brodie Hampson having her first ride for us. We were hoping he was going to run in Wednesday’s cross country race but it wasn’t to be. He’s had a brilliant season for Foxtrot Racing winning twice over hurdles and once over fences and it’s great to have him back on song. He too should love the ground and it would be fantastic if he gave his enthusiastic owners something to shout on again.

Forecast is our other runner and is in great heart and I’m pleased to have Conor Shoemark back on him after a period off injured as they get on so well together. He’d have a good each way chance I hope as he should love the ground and I see Pricewise has tipped him in the Racing Post which I always think is a good sign! He’s also owned by a great bunch of owners so a good day in prospect hopefully.

My parents are still here after Cheltenham and have taken Harry to play football at Northleach vs Cotswold Rangers. Good luck to Harry and his team too.
