Martin’s Blog 16th June

Last night at Uttoxeter Brass Monkey, who had been working well at home, didn’t finish his race off having jumped and travelled well. We’ll need to get to the bottom of what is stopping him as it was frustrating last night. Ask Alice delighted us. She’ll need further over hurdles but she did all her best work towards the finish and was a staying on 4th under Richard Johnson who deputized for a poorly Lizzie Kelly.

A busy work morning with Stuart Baikie in to watch Cottersrock work under Warren Marston. We also worked Sporty Yankee, Jazzy, Ocean Eleven, Cut and Run, The Kvilleken, Whatalove, Lerichi Belle, Altesse De Guye, Enforcement, Miss Condi. All the rest cantered.

Unfortunately I couldn’t be in two places last night so Belinda joined Geoff and Caroline Godsall and their friends in celebrating Caroline’s milestone birthday at the Corse Lawn House Hotel and it must have been a good night as she wasn’t home when I got home! They had a fantastic time and a big happy birthday to Caroline.

Belinda put her finishing touches on Buckle Street this morning and we are now up at York after a horrendous 5 hour journey with the M1 shut. She’s on ITV’s Opening Show tomorrow morning so do tune in to see her and another one of the riders interviewed by Matt Chapman. She’s excited/emotional and very proud of how much money she has raised – she’s just a few hundred pounds off £26k so it would be great if she could reach it by tomorrow’s race. Thanks to all of you who have supported her and to the huge amount of good luck wishes she’s received – cards/texts/emails/ phone calls. We have a huge support group coming up tonight and tomorrow and it’s going to be a fabulous day.
