We don’t often get excited about 2nd places but yesterday’s 2nd for Zestful on the flat at Southwell was a great result especially as so many of her syndicate had a few pennies on her at even longer than her returning price of 50-1. Indeed if there had been more of a gallop we think she’d possibly have won. A good ride from George Rooke who got her settled and switched off and when they kicked for home we were confident she was going to be placed. Whether she runs again on the flat or now goes juvenile hurdling will probably depend on the weather but I know we are going to have plenty of fun with her under both codes – she’s a lovely looking big mare.
Ambassador ran in the same race for our Racing Club and we were forced to run him on the flat as he hates the soft ground around at the moment. Dougie Costello was pleased with him and despite finishing down the field he wasn’t beaten far and needs to drop back in trip. He’ll hopefully give us plenty of fun under both codes too.
Today we head to Hereford for the last with Forecast, also for our Racing Club. He’s got top weight so Finn Lambert takes 5lbs off his back – he’s won and Hereford before and should love the ground so although he’s a huge price too, let’s hope he does a ‘Zestful’! Good luck to all the Racing Club.
