Martin’s Blog 16th February

After the past couple of years we are not yet taking having visitors again to the yard for granted and it’s been lovely to welcome quite a few friends to the yard recently. Ollie & Irene Ryan were in on Saturday to watch the horses work on the gallops along with Tilly Jarrett and also quite a few of the ‘She Has Notions’ group of owners. On Monday David Maughan was in to watch Brorson and his new purchase Spanish Present on the gallops and it was really good to catch up with David too and make further plans for these two exciting horses. Yesterday Matthew Baker was in the yard too.

Today the Stars and Stripes Racing Club has two runners at Hereford so a very exciting day for them. James Best partners both runners

Carumba runs over fences and hasn’t run for over 1000 days under rules and nearly 800 point to pointing so will undoubtedly come on for the run but he’s done plenty of schooling and plenty of work at home and it would be good to see an encouraging run today. He does seem to love his work and enjoy being in training.

Culverwell runs in the following race – a maiden hurdle and will strip fitter for his recent Chepstow outing. He also seems to enjoy his work and we are hoping for an improved effort today.

Yesterday’s Grand National Weights Lunch at The Rum Warehouse in Liverpool was fun and we look forward to the build up to the big day. Back On The Lash is our entry for Mark Boothright but his more immediate target is The Cheltenham Festival next month.
