Foul weather for the team to work in this morning. Conor Shoemark in and we schooled Lerichi Belle, Forecast, Brillare Momento, Solstice Star, Back on the Lash, World War, Cut and Run, Pomme De Nuit and Young Phoenix. All the rest just cantered.
We cantered some of them up the grass this morning as I spent yesterday afternoon spiking and aeriating the ground and the overnight rain has helped produce perfect ground and Conor and Harry Stock were delighted with how it rode. We’ll therefore be able to get some of the horses on it tomorrow to do their first pieces of work on the grass.
Wet yesterday here too and with no runners we took Primogeniture and Buckle Street on the Cotswold Farm Park Fun ride – 10 minutes from here. Similar to hunting, doing something different with these horses is a real tonic for them and they both thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We are obviously very careful and only jump the smallest of logs and ensure they walk along any tracks and roads but the ground was perfect yesterday and it was fantastic to have the opportunity to do something like that.
A very sad day today as it’s the funeral of Harry’s Dad Chris Stock in Broadway at 1pm. An absolute gentleman, gone far too soon – I’m sure his family will do him proud once again today and we’ll help them give him the send off he deserves, he’d not want us to be sad. All our love and thoughts with them today.
