What a shame racing is off today – such a big charity fundraiser for Cheltenham however in the grand scheme of things, with so many houses around the country flooded, we must think ourselves very fortunate and thoughts with those who are in upheaval. Thanks to my team though for their hard work in such horrid conditions – yesterday’s weather was just awful.
There is still the Tattersalls Sale at Cheltenham at 1pm so do get in touch as I’m always keen to add to the team here and there are some lovely horses going under the hammer.
Busy here this morning with Mark Boothright, Grahame Lovett, Pete Deffains, Paul Davis, Pip Frankish, Gordon Bendall and my father Trevor all on the gallops. Bitterly cold but mostly dry. We worked quite a few too including Brillare Momento, Big Nasty, Ben Buie, Lord Condi, Robsam and Samtara.
All fingers crossed that Saturday’s card at Cheltenham is on. None more so than Freddie who has been successful in being selected as one of the Junior Jumpers to shadow an ITV Presenter tomorrow for their first Episode. He is ‘mini Ed Chamberlin’ and is understandably excited.
I’m thrilled that the Cross-Country Race has been rescheduled to Sunday having missed today’s card. Solstice Star should love the ground and I was pleased to see no Irish horses declare this morning however it still looks a pretty strong race. Sam Twiston-Davies rides for Foxtrot Racing. It will be his debut over the cross-country fences and it sometimes takes a race for them to get used to them but I was pleased with how he schooled and we are all very excited to have a runner in the race again.
