Martin’s Blog 15th May

Work morning and Sarasota Star, Pinnacle Peak, Cloud Formation, Found On, Dreamsundermyfeet, Kazontherazz, Cut And Run, Pay The Woman and Capricia (now a non runner due to softening ground at Uttoxeter) all worked with Warren Marston, Harry Stock and Fern O’Brien as extras in riding out.

Simon Ward brought his family to see Debden Bank and Witness Protection and Paul Davis was in too before going on to Martin Jones’ Redmarley base to see our two youngsters there who are in the process of being backed and ridden away. An exciting process and fabulous journey for all of them.

Uttoxeter tonight and now with just two after we took Capricia out this morning. Eclat Des Mottes is our first runner in the 2m 6f Handicap Chase under James Best. His best run to date was when he looked booked for at least 2nd at Catterick but unfortunately took a heavy fall at the last and was sore for quite some time. At Stratford last time he looked to enjoy himself again and needs to build on that run today. He shouldn’t mind the ground and James Best knows him well.

Later we run Be Thankful for our Racing Club in the 2 mile novices’ hurdle, also partnered by James Best, and she’s been schooling well at home and seems in good form. She’s a lovely stamp of a mare who is versatile enough to run on the flat and is big enough to jump fences at some stage – she’s schooled over them at home. It would be great to get another solid run under her belt and brilliant that some of our Racing Club Members are able to be there tonight.

Our monthly newsletter is out today so do get in touch if you would like to be on our mailing list and aren’t yet on it. It’s longer than normal with winners to celebrate and also the retirement of the wonderful Solstice Star – and, as always, horses for sale!

Happy Birthday today to two of our owners – Zara Tindall and Tilly Jarrett.
