Worcester last night was busy and it was great to see so many people enjoying a night out at the races. Codey Jones was making his debut for us after running in Point to Points for Claire Hart and her team. The plan was originally to drop him in but I did say to Sean Bowen to ride him like he found him and after being keen to post he decided to change the plan and make the running. Codey enjoyed himself out in front, jumping well and leading until 3 out where ran a blinder to finish 4th only beaten by 10 1/2 lengths by horses with decent flat form/previous hurdling experience. A really encouraging race and the decision to send him under Rules justified and we are thrilled for all the Claire Hart Team.
Herecomeshogan, as I mentioned yesterday, is quite harshly treated in the weights but he ran another solid race despite experiencing quite a few traffic problems on his final circuit. Hopefully the Handicapper will give him a chance as he’s a genuine horse with a lovely attitude. Super to see so many of his owners, The Cotswold Lockdowners, there to support him and despite Hogan not troubling the judge, they all seemed to have a fun night and we know he’s a horse for the future and we need to be patient.
As we remain in a heatwave we are riding out early and thanks to the Team for all their continued hard work. We are able to juggle turnout with the horses with them either going out overnight or just for a few hours after they’ve been ridden. Our stables all have windows at the back of them and some have pens too so they are all cool whilst the temperatures outside soar.
